Illinois Disability Insurance

An Illinois Disability policy is important for protecting one of your most valuable resources, the ability to earn income.  We protect our lives with IL Health Insurance, IL Life Insurance, and IL Property and Casualty Insurance but many times our income gets neglected.  QuicklyQuoteMe has teamed up with professional Illinois Disability Agents to bring you the advice and protection you need.

Many people in Illinois are protected by group Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability.  The danger is that the coverage is subject to employment and the benefit will probably be fully taxable. By owning an individual Illinois policy, you the consumer can set your desired level of protection up to the traditional limit of 60%. The coverage, once issued, will stay in effect until retirement age assuming that all required premium payments and paid. In most situations Long Term Disability is the only kind available to individuals while Short Term is typically reserved for groups. Ask your Illinois Disability Agent what is available for your situation.

There are some important optional riders to consider when choosing an Illinois Disability policy that is listed below:

Elimination Period: Typically 30, 60, 90, or 180 days. It represents that amount of time before the benefit begins to pay. The longer the IL elimination period the smaller the premium.

Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA): This benefit adds a percentage (typically 5%) to your benefit to keep up with inflation and/or salary increases.

Own Occupation: The benefit will be paid out as long as the individual cannot perform his/her own occupations or duties as long as the benefit period is scheduled to pay out.

Any Occupation: The benefit will be paid out if the individual cannot perform any gainful occupation. It is a more restrictive definition because there are many occupations that one could still perform with minor disabilities. This is the definition that Social Security uses.
