| Cobra Health Insurance |
|
Cobra is the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985. Cobra generally requires that employers having group health insurance plans with 20 or more employees offer workers and their families the opportunity to temporarily extend their health insurance coverage in instances where they are leaving the job. Workers are required to pay the full premium plus a 2% admin fee. This coverage only lasts for 18 months. At that point the insured must find their own individual policy. Quite often employers pay a very large portion of an employees health insurance so when the employee leaves the job the Cobra payments can be quite expensive. These people should look around for Cobra Alternatives.
